Our firm has gained millions of pounds in compensation for sexual abuse survivors.  We have obtained the maximum CICA award of £500,000 on a number of occasions.  Other notable awards of compensation have been damages of almost £300,000 paid by Lambeth Council; a recent payout of £420,000 from Royal Borough of Greenwich in relation to one of their schools. However, we recognise that no amount of compensation cannot undo the harm and distress caused by sexual abuse.  For some clients, recognition of the wrongs done to them in their childhood and closure is more important than a financial settlement.  At Robsonshaw we understand how important acknowledging the wrongdoing can be to an individual and not just compensation.

We are regularly approached by individuals who have been offered an award by the CICA for the physical aspect of the sexual assault.  Applicants often assume this to be the correct amount and do not realise they are also entitled to an award for mental health issues and sometimes loss of earnings.  This case related to an applicant who was in this situation having submitted her own CICA claim and she had received an offer of an award, but it failed to include an award for her loss of earnings.
